Based on recent study report from Ceresana, a market research agent in Germany, global demand for carbon black may grow considerably. It is predicted that demand will reach more than 15 million tons bu 2022.
Carbon black is mainly applied in tires made of SBR,BR and natural rubber. The demand for carbon black for tire use accounts for 70% of total demand. The second largest demand is from rubber products used in industry and construction. Carbon black is widely applied in chemical industry, mechanical engineering, construction, electrical and electronics industries. Its relevant products include conveying belt, gasket, tubing, section bar, sealing element, cable and moulded products. The demand for carbon black is the highest from SBR,BR,NBR and EPDM. Carbon black used as black pigment in printing ink, plastics and coating only accounted for less than 10% of total available market, however, the application in these fields is showing the strongest growth with annual average growth rate of 2.9%~4.5%.
In 2014, more than 60% carbon black is produced in Asia Pacific region.North America and East Europe is the second and the third largest producer respectively. It is predicted that the figure will be increased by 2 million tons. Demand from Asia itself is increasing, but is export surplus will still further rise. It is predicted by Ceresana that carbon black enterprises will go on expansion, in particular, in such emerging economies as China and India.
